The Sufferings of the Savior – Scripture Chain
February 21, 2011 2 Comments
Recently, I was shown a “scripture chain” that was very inspiring. (Thanks Bro. Moon) First, a “scripture chain” is a chain or group of scriptures, one leading to the next. These chains are limited only by one’s creativity and ability to find common threads through the canon.
I’m going to list the chain below and encourage anyone, who is so inspired, to mark this chain in your own scriptures. The title given to this chain is: “The Suffering of the Savoir in the Garden of Gethsemane.”
As I mentioned, I was moved by these scriptures and what I found about His sufferings. I invite you to look through these scriptures and post below the feeling you encounter as you read.
Big comment, small comment, doesn’t matter. I would love to hear from you.
Starting in Luke 22: 44
Doctrine & Covenants 19:16-19
17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;
18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bittercup, and shrink—
19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.
Doctrine & Covenants 18:11
7And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger,thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.
